CE Mark

CE Marking for Construction Product

What is it?

CE Marking is a mandatory requirement for the commercialization of construction products in the European Economic Area (EEA). According to this regulation, construction products can only be commercialised if they are suitable for the use to which they are intended.

This means that the products must fulfil their function during an economically reasonable period of time. The essential requirements must be met in terms of: mechanical resistance and stability, safety in case of fire, hygiene, health and environment, safety and accessibility of use, protection against noise, energy economy and heat retention, and sustainable use of natural resources, which are set out in annex I of the directive.

Only the construction products that meet all the requirements of the harmonised standards of the European Assessment Documents can bear the CE Marking – failing that, the products must meet all the requirements of a national technical specifications document.

The manufacturer or his representative established in the European Union must certify, by his own means or through a Notified Body, that his products meet the requirements of the harmonised technical specifications according to the conformity assessment procedures mentioned in the directive.
