Impact verification

What is it?

The current context has highlighted the importance of companies generating a positive impact on society and the environment.

The demand for transparent and true information on the effects of a company's activities on the environment and society has increased on the part of shareholders and stakeholders.

This change generated by organizations in their environment must be measurable, communicated and, on many occasions, verified by trained external personnel.

The external review should cover:

  • The environmental and/or social characteristics of the project or organization.
  • The environmental and/or social benefits and impacts.
  • The environmental and/or social risks associated with the projects.

The verification report includes:

  • General description of the objective, audit scope of work and qualifications of the auditor.
  • The credentials necessary to evaluate the performance indicators, sustainability objectives and others related to the reference scheme, baseline and strategies proposed or developed, as well as the environmental potential and sustainability risks and impacts generated.
  • Declaration of independence and absence of conflict of interest.
  • Definitions, analytical approach and/or methodologies used.
  • Conclusions or results of the external review report, including any limitations or exclusions to the external review.

Who is it for?

Impact verification can be targeted at a variety of stakeholders depending on the context and specific purpose of the verification. Some of the groups that may be targeted by impact verification are:

  • Companies and organizations
  • Investors and shareholders
  • Non-profit organizations and NGOs
  • Government and regulatory bodies
  • Consumers and the general public
