Marbella, the first Andalusian city with a Smart Destination certificate
CERTIFICATION | QUALITY AND PRODUCT
One of the certificates awarded by the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute (ICTE) is the Smart Destination (SD), which defines those innovative destinations with sustainable development. In addition, the certification is based on the UNE 178501:2018 standard and refers to all those systems that seek to promote the improvement of competitiveness and tourism development.
In this context, Marbella has been the first Andalusian city -and the third worldwide- to obtain this SD seal, and our Certification division has been in charge of carrying out the audit in order to verify the compliance of all the requirements.
The Smart Tourism Destinations program is led by the Secretary of State for Tourism and promoted by the State Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR), being an international pioneer in implementing this new tourism model. Likewise, something very remarkable about this seal is its involvement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), since it is based on a tourism management model based on five areas -governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility- highly related with the achievement of the SDGs.
