Accessibility Management Certificate for six new Andalusian beaches

25.07.2019

The certification of a Universal Accessibility Management System guarantees all users, regardless of their age or disability, the same possibilities of access, use and enjoyment of the services provided on the beaches with the greatest possible autonomy in their use.

The reference standard used for management, mainly municipal, is UNE 170001-2:2007 Universal accessibility. Part 2: Accessibility management system, which implies the organization's social commitment to equal rights and opportunities for all people, regardless of their abilities. Thus, any user could access the beach and receive the services provided.

The beaches certified according to this standard have wide and level walkways to the wet surface, gently sloping ramps, toilets, changing rooms and adapted showers, as well as accessible information on panels at the main points. Likewise, the lifeguard and lifeguard professionals carry out the attention and support to the bathing in order to be able to attend to all the people who require it.

For certification, compliance with the DALCO (Deambulation, Apprehension, Location and Communication) requirements of the UNE 170001-1:2007 Standard, UNE 41512:2001 on accessibility on beaches and their surroundings, various UNE standards relating to accessibility in the urban environment, built environment, public transport, building, toilets, etc., as well as the associated legal requirements, must be guaranteed.

During the current summer season, OCA Global has certified the management for universal accessibility in the beaches of Calahonda, La Cala, El Bombo and Riviera in the Municipal District of Mijas (Málaga), the beaches of El Carmen in the Municipal District of Barbate (Cádiz) and Playa de Calahonda, in the Local Entity of Carchuna-Calahonda (Granada), which join those already certified during the previous seaso

This certification can be integrated with other beach certification schemes such as UNE 93200 (Service Charter), ISO 13009 (Q for Quality), ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001 or EMAS (Environmental Management Systems).
