Technical assistance for "EU for Serbia - Support for Safer Products" project completed

Last Wednesday, November 2, OCA Global finalized the execution of the Technical Assistance contract "EU for Serbia - Support for Safer Products".

With this project, which started in December 2019, OCA Global has supported the Serbian government and national quality infrastructure agencies in the adoption and implementation of harmonized EU policies in the field of free movement of goods. The contract has contributed to Serbia's EU accession process, as well as to the improvement of the competitiveness of Serbian companies.

Specifically, OCA Global has:

  • Worked with the Ministries of Economy, Interior and Construction on improving legal harmonization in: personal protective equipment, construction products, motor vehicles, pyrotechnic articles and explosives for civilian use.
  • Trained Serbian quality infrastructure institutions: Accreditation Body (ATS), Institute for Standardization (ISS), Metrology Directorate for Measurements and Precious Metals (DMDM) and Conformity Assessment Bodies.
  • Improved the technical and managerial capacities of the institutions in charge of market surveillance, led by the Ministry of Commerce, to enforce legislation harmonized with the EU.
  • Increased the knowledge of Serbian consumers and economic operators about the EU product safety concept and contributed to the visibility of the work of ISS and DMDM.

On October 25, 2022, the closing ceremony of the project was celebrated at the Palace of Serbia. The event was attended by all official partners and with the participation as speakers of Miodrag Dugandzija, acting assistant to the Minister of Economy; Andrea Hochhuber, head of the EU delegation in the European Integration and Economy Section; Nikola Mirkovic, National Project Director of the Ministry of Economy, as well as OCA Global consultants.
