OCA Global, jury at the III Aquanaria Madrid Fusion Sustainability Award

Verónica Sanz, head of sustainability and ESG in Oca Global's Certification division, was a member of the jury for the third edition of the Aquanaria Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España Sustainability Awards, which took place at the end of January.

The head of sustainability at OCA Global was a member of the jury along with other renowned figures such as the Torres brothers, from the restaurant Cocina Hermanos Torres (Barcelona); Jesús Sánchez, chef at Cenador de Amós (Villaverde de Pontones - Cantabria); Luis Laria (founder and president of the Coordinadora para el Estudio de las Especies Marinas CEPESMA); and Alfredo López (biologist at the Coordinadora para el Estudio de Mamíferos Marinos CEMMA).

This year's winners were Borja Marrero, for his work at the helm of the MuXgo restaurant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Samuel Naveira, chef at MU.NA (Ponferrada), who received a special mention for his contribution to the development of the environment of Bierzo; and, finally, Javier Marañón, chef at the Cantabrian restaurant La Torre Galizano for his contribution to energy efficiency and savings.

The aim of this award is to support and promote sustainable projects and initiatives within the hospitality industry in Spain, as well as to disseminate the need to analyze in the sector every aspect of sustainability related to the SDG 2030 in order to protect the environment, respect nature and preserve the planet.
